The Homestretch

The UK Markey Cancer Center has launched The Homestretch incentive program, aimed at assisting researchers in the final stages of publishing their work in prestigious academic journals. In order to be eligible for the incentives offered by this program, papers must be submitted to journals with an impact factor score of 10 or higher.

This program consists of two incentives. 1) An investigator can request financial support to address any comments or suggestions made by the journal's reviewers; 2) Once a paper is accepted in a high impact journal, Markey Cancer Center will pay the publication fees associated with the accepted paper. To learn more about the incentives and request the benefits, please see the tabs below.

Do you need to address reviewer comments before your work can be published?

The Markey Cancer Center will pay up to $5,000 to help you address a high-impact journal's reviewer comments in order for your manuscript to be published.

To be eligible for this incentive, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Markey Cancer Center member
  • Be the first, senior, or corresponding author on the manuscript
  • The work must be done primarily at the Markey Cancer Center
  • Submit a draft manuscript with the reviewer's letter/comments
  • Submit a budget/budget justification for the requested funds

Are the publication fees outside your budget to publish in a top-tier journal?

The Markey Cancer Center will pay the publication fees for accepted papers in journals with an impact factor above 10.
