UK Retail Pharmacies offering 90-day prescription supplies for summer

Headed away from campus for the summer but still need your medications?

UK Retail Pharmacies is making it easy by offering 90-day prescription fills.

When requesting a refill, simply request a 90-day supply – it's that easy. Most insurance plans support 90-day refills, and the UK Student Health Plan is allowing 90-day refills for the summer. To learn more about what your plan covers or see if your prescriptions are eligible, ask the pharmacy.

Still need to get your medications monthly? Free mail delivery is also available for most prescriptions.

UK Retail Pharmacies offer eight convenience locations on and off campus.

On campus, the Apothecary is located on the first floor of the Gatton Student Center, and the University Health Services Retail Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the University Health Service Building.

UK Retail Pharmacies named Best Pharmacies in Lexington

UK Retail Pharmacies have officially been named the Best Pharmacies in Lexington in Smiley Pete's Best of Lex awards. This honor is a testament to the outstanding service and commitment to health UK Retail Pharmacies consistently provides to the community. 

The Best of Lex awards, presented by Smiley Pete Publications, which includes the Chevy Chaser and Southsider magazines, celebrates local businesses that go above and beyond in serving their customers and the community. With over 260,000 votes cast across all categories, UKBest of Lex seal Retail Pharmacies took first place in the Pharmacy category. 

"We are honored to receive this award and grateful to the Lexington community for their support," said Dan Grantz, PharmD, senior director of Retail & Community Pharmacy Services. "Our team is dedicated to providing the highest quality care and service, and it's incredibly rewarding to see that commitment reflected in the voices of our customers."

UK Retail Pharmacies are full-service pharmacies, with seven locations in Lexington open to everyone and one, the Bluegrass Clinic Pharmacy in Beaumont, open to UK employees and patients of the UK Bluegrass Care Clinic. Most insurance plans are accepted, and for added convenience, UK Retail Pharmacies offer free mail delivery on most prescriptions.


 

Additional COVID vaccine available for older adults, immunocompromised

An additional COVID-19 vaccine is now available at UK Retail Pharmacies for adults 65 and older or those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are recommending an additional COVID-19 vaccine this spring to give eligible patients added protection against the virus. Patients are encouraged to receive another COVID-19 vaccine even if they got a previous COVID-19 vaccine in the fall. 

Here's what you need to know:

  • Patients 65 and older can receive one additional dose of the Pfizer/Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least 16 weeks after their previous dose. 
  • Immunocompromised patients are eligible for one to two additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
    • Pfizer:
      • Patients 6 months - 11 years:
        • One previous dose: Second dose at least three weeks after first dose. 
        • Two previous doses: One dose at least eight weeks after the last dose
        • Three or more previous doses: One dose at least eight weeks after the last dose.
      • Patients 12 years and older:
        • One previous dose: Second dose at least three weeks after first; third dose at least four weeks after the second dose. 
        • Two previous doses: One dose at least four weeks after the last dose. 
        • Three or more previous doses: One dose at least eight weeks after first; third dose at least four weeks after the second dose.
    • Moderna:
      • Patients 6 months and older:
        • One previous dose: Second dose at least four weeks after first; third dose at least four weeks after the second dose. 
        • Two previous doses: One dose at least four weeks after the last dose. 
        • Three or more previous doses: One dose at least eight weeks after the last dose.
