Robert Baumann attended college at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. and received his medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine in Cleveland. He completed two years of pediatric residency followed by a three-year fellowship in child neurology at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Baumann is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Child Neurology. He has served on the board of directors of the Professors of Child Neurology and the American Academy of Neurology and is currently on the Board of Directors of the United Council for Neurological Subspecialities.
