Personal Statement

Early in my life, I knew I wanted to be a nurse and care for people. I became a Neonatal ICU nurse and loved watching the little ones grow and defy odds on a daily basis. We nurses were advocates for these children, as well as their families. During this time, I decided I wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner so I could care for and advocate for my patients along the entire lifespan – from newborn to elderly.

I thoroughly enjoy getting to know and care for my patients. The most rewarding experience as a provider is to help patients and witness their progress as they improve their health, overcome obstacles and reach their goals.

Great medicine treats and cares for the whole person. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A joyful heart is good medicine,” and I truly believe that laughter and love is the greatest medicine. As a Nurse Practitioner, I want to consider the whole person - spiritually, physically and mentally – to help them achieve optimal health and live a full and happy life.

Amber was the best provider I have had at UK. I felt heard, I felt at ease with her. I trust her with my care. When I explained reactions I had to various medicines, she did not dismiss my experiences, as had happened so often, but instead agreed caution was needed.

  Nurse Practictioner Amber has always been very caring, very engaging, people friendly, and readily accessible. You know she cares about your condition. She was careful to listen to all my concerns and ran more blood tests when the first set of tests werent conclusive enough for her. I appreciate that. She also gave me a sense of what future treatment or tests will look like and I left knowing that we were going to make some progress in determining what was going on with my medical condition. I highly recommend her as an NP. UK is VERY FORTUNATE to have her!!!!
