Thoroughly diagnosed every problem and any concern I had. Always asked if the proposed solution was OK with me.

In processing an unexpected diagnosis, with negative health implications, the explanations of the problems and the treatments that could be pursued were rather overwhelming. It was only later that I thought of questions I should have asked at the time. If, in cases like these, there was some kind of quick followup with the PA to address new questions or concern, that I think would be enormously beneficial. It is hard to absorb a lot of information while at the same time asking important relevant questions, especially in a stressful situation.

As usual at UK clinics, my care was provided first by a nurse-practitioner and then by the physician. It's my long experience that the nurse-practitioner deals with the touchy-feely part of the patient's concerns, thus allowing the doctor to concentrate on the important part: ordering the tests, writing the prescriptions.
