Robert B. Slocum, Ph.D., is the Narrative Medicine Program Coordinator at UK HealthCare. He has earned doctorates in law, ministry, and theology. He has served as a mentor for shadowing medical students and nursing students. He has taught undergraduate courses in religious studies and ethics. He is a member of the Hospital Ethics Committee at UK. He served as a professor and dean of Arts & Sciences at a small college. He is the author, editor, or co-editor of 13 books, including a journal of reflections with prompts for written responses. He has also published short fiction and poetry. He is interested in the clinical application of narrative and the significance of narrative for identity formation. He also holds a black sash (fourth level) in Tai Chi and other internal martial arts, and teaches a Tai Chi class at UKHealthCare. He is married to Victoria Slocum and has three adult children.
