Gynecological Oncology

The UK Gynecological Oncology team specializes in treatment of cancers of the ovary, cervix, vagina and vulva. This health care team includes medical and gynecologic oncologists who provide personalized care.

Treatment options include radical surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, or a combination.

Early detection of gynecologic cancers is the key to successful treatment. The Gynecological Oncology program offers the following screenings:

Ovarian cancer — The Markey Cancer Center Ovarian Screening Program was started in 1987 and provides free annual sonographic screenings to women at risk for ovarian cancer. For more information about the program, call 1-800-766-8279 toll free or 859-323-4687.
Cervical cancer — Patients are screened for conditions such as HPV that indicate a higher risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
In addition, annual pap tests help detect potential cell abnormalities.
