NeonatologyThe Division of Neonatology collaborates with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Department of Surgery, and the Department of Pediatrics to provide comprehensive care for critically ill and premature infants. In addition, UK neonatologists work with specialists from other areas of the medical center as needed, including but not limited to the Divisions of Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Pulmonology, and Pediatric Hematology; collaboration includes specialists from multi-disciplines focused on the management of the very ill infant. State-of-the-art treatment modalities available include surfactant treatment, nitric oxide, high-frequency ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
