Closure of S. Limestone/Maxwell St. intersection affects access to UK Good Samaritan Hospital

Beginning Sept. 16, 2009, the city of Lexington will close the S. Limestone/Maxwell St. intersection, in addition to the existing closure of S. Limestone between Avenue of Champions (Euclid Avenue) and Vine St., for infrastructure repairs and improvements. This closure will affect traffic to and from UK Good Samaritan Hospital. Please note that, with the exception of Maxwell St., all major intersections with South Limestone remain open.

The following routes are recommended for patients accessing UK Good Samaritan:

Nicholasville Road/South Limestone (US 27):
Patients who normally travel to UK Good Samaritan via Nicholasville Road/S. Limestone should take S. Limestone to Avenue of Champions and turn right on Avenue of Champions. Take a left on
Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Harrodsburg Road/South Broadway (US 68):
Take Harrodsburg Road to Virginia Ave. Take a right on Virginia Ave. Proceed to S. Limestone and take a left on S. Limestone to Ave. of Champions. Take a right on Avenue of Champions and a
left on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.:

• For hospital parking, turn left into the hospital driveway and proceed to the parking garage.
• For the Good Samaritan Office Building and the Professional Arts Center, proceed to Maxwell Street and turn left. The buildings are on the right. This block of Maxwell is temporarily two-way while the Maxwell/Limestone intersection is closed.

Tates Creek Road (KY 1974):
Tates Creek Road becomes High Street as you enter downtown – continue on High Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Turn left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and right onto Maxwell Street. This block of Maxwell is temporarily two-way while the Maxwell/Limestone intersection is closed.

• For hospital parking, turn left into the hospital driveway and proceed to the parking garage straight ahead.
• For the Good Samaritan Professional Arts Center, take the first right.
• For the Good Samaritan Office Building, take the second right

Exiting

All drivers leaving the hospital grounds will exit right onto Maxwell Street.

Northbound, westbound and southbound: Use Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to reach High Street or Main Street.
Eastbound and Tates Creek Road-bound: Remain on Maxwell Street to connect to Rose Street or continue following Maxwell Street to Tates Creek Road.
