Markey Cancer Center (MCC) is a premier cancer research and patient care facility established in 1985 that utilizes the resources of 28 departments, 8 colleges and 150 faculty throughout UK HealthCare to further the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer. Patient care Markey Cancer Center provides specialized care for people with cancer and related diseases as well as comprehensive cancer screening and diagnostic services.
Professional staff More than 65 extramurally-funded cancer researchers pursue studies in cancer biology, causes, prevention and treatment. More than 100 board-certified cancer specialists work in the areas of diagnostics, medical oncology, surgical oncology, hematology, bone marrow transplantation, radiation oncology, psycho-oncology, palliative care and genetics counseling. Research MCC is a full, participating member institution in the Southwest Oncology Group, the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, the Pediatric Oncology Group, and the Gynecologic Oncology Group. MCC has received over $25 million in core funding from the National Cancer Institute and over $43 million in extramural funding (NIH, ACS, pharmaceutical, etc.). 115+ ongoing research projects

Facilities The Whitney-Hendrickson Building (2001) provides outpatient treatment services for major cancers, including gynecologic, breast, lung, gastrointestinal and urologic cancer. The Ben F. Roach Patient Care Facility (1986) is dedicated to the care of cancer patients. Outpatient treatment services for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, other blood disorders and blood and marrow transplantation are provided on the first floor by the Markey Hematology Program. The second and third floors house inpatient care in 56 private rooms. The Dorothy Enslow Combs Cancer Research Building (1989) has research laboratories, offices and conference space used to advance cancer research. The Margrite Davis-Ralph Mills Building (1992) houses research laboratories. This building is joined with the Whitney-Hendrickson Cancer building and houses new chemotherapy infusion suites.
