Blood and Marrow Transplant ProgramDownload/Print pdf (92KB PDF) Program The program, a part of UK Markey Cancer Center, is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy. It is also a collection center for the National Marrow Donor Program, and the immuno-molecular pathology laboratory is certified by both the American Society for Histocompatibility and Cytogenetics as well as the Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments. Patient accommodations Diseases treated Transplant team and nursing Because UK HealthCare takes a cooperative, highly integrated approach to medicine, patients in the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program also have access to experts in every medical and surgical subspecialty. Our transplant team includes three transplant coordinators, two nurse practitioners and specialized pharmacists. The nurses at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, including those in our program, have earned Magnet® nursing status, the most prestigious designation for nurses. Our nurses who have an average of 12 years of experience in blood and marrow transplants are certified in chemotherapy, biotherapy and oncology nursing. The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program also employs a dietitian and a team of social workers for both inpatient and outpatient consultation.
