College of Public Health
Since the founding of the Johns Hopkins College of Public Health in 1916, there
has been an increase in the number of schools dedicated to population-based
approaches to improving the health of people. Public health has had a resurgence
of interest among health providers over the last several years. As we focus
on the premise that prevention of disease is the best approach to controlling
costs, increasing access to health care and improving health status, more and
more individuals who want to make a contribution to society see careers in public
health as an avenue to accomplish their goals.
Through our efforts in education, research and service, our mission at the
College of Public Health is to make Kentucky, the nation and the world
a healthier place to live.
