UK Chandler Hospital Named One of Nation's Best

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 18, 2008) − UK HealthCare's Albert B. Chandler Hospital is among the nation's top 100 hospitals. For the fifth time, Thomson Healthcare selected UK Chandler Hospital to receive its "Top Hospitals National Benchmarks" award. Hospitals are evaluated in four areas: clinical process and outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, and financial stability.

UK Chandler Hospital is the only major academic medical center in Kentucky to be ranked in the top 100. Of the major teaching hospitals studied, only 15 were ranked as performance leaders. The hospital also received top honors in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 2006.

"It is an honor to receive this prestigious award for a second year in a row. It validates our level of commitment to our patients and the community. Our ultimate goal is to always provide quality care. It's rewarding when our efforts are noticed on a national level," said Dr. Michael Karpf, UK executive vice president for health affairs.
