Lt. Governor Visits Kentucky Children's HospitalCONTACT: Mary Margaret Colliver, (859) 361-1887 LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 23, 2008) – Kentucky Lt. Gov. Dr. Daniel Mongiardo recently paid a visit to patients at Kentucky Children's Hospital. He was there to deliver gifts that had been donated by staff members in the governor and lieutenant governor’s offices. The staff rose to the challenge, collecting over 60 presents for some of the young patients who have to spend time in the hospital during the holidays. “This is what the spirit of the season is really all about—giving back,” said Mongiardo. “As a medical doctor, it is especially poignant for me to have the opportunity to deliver these gifts today. I know how hard illness can be not only on young children but on families as well. I hope this celebration today and these toys provide a little bit of joy in what can be a difficult time of year, especially in these tough economic conditions.” “We know how important the health of Kentucky's children is to the government of the Commonwealth and to this administration,” said Dr. Tim Bricker, professor and chairman of pediatrics, University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and physician-in-chief of Kentucky Children's Hospital. “We were excited to have Lt. Gov. Dr. Mongiardo visit our Kentucky Children's Hospital and recognize his commitment to improving the lives of all of Kentucky's children.” |
