UK HealthCare perioperative nursing services
The perioperative (surgical) nursing services unit is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The unit consists of:
- a preoperative anesthesia clinic
- two preoperative holding rooms (Holding)
- twenty-one operating room (OR) suites
- two recovery rooms (PACU)
- a postoperative observational area
- a Gamma Knife® radiosurgery unit
- a central sterile processing area
- a materials management supplies area
Approximately 1,350 patients of all ages have surgery per month at UK HealthCare, including general outpatient procedures in the Critical Care Center and general inpatient procedures, such as:
- cardiothoracic
- Gamma Knife® radiosurgery
- general surgery
- gynecology
- minimally invasive surgery
- neurosurgery
- ophthalmology
- oral and maxillofacial
- orthopedics and sports medicine
- otolaryngology
- pediatrics
- plastic and reconstructive surgery
- trauma
- urology
- vascular
- heart, lung, renal, pancreas and liver transplant
