UK HealthCare per diem nursing pool 
The per diem pool provides supplemental staffing to all patient care areas in the Hospital for pre-existing shift vacancies as well as “call-in” shift vacancies. The  per diem pool is made up of two distinct staffing groups, Acute Care and ICU/Critical Care:
The Acute Care Pool works as needed in all adult Medical Surgical units as well as telemetry. The nurses are required to complete specialized courses to ensure competency in telemetry, oncology, as well as core competencies for all other Medical Surgical areas.
The ICU Pool works as needed in all Critical Care units as well as the Emergency Department and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). This staff must complete specialized course work to enable competency in the ICUs. All must maintain ACLS & TNCC certifications.
