Markey Cancer Center programs, resources, and services extend beyond the UK HealthCare facilities in Lexington to communities throughout central and eastern Kentucky.

The Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network provides high-quality cancer services and programs close to home. Our vision is for all Kentuckians to have access to high-quality cancer care regardless of where they live.  We offer advanced treatments and support services combined with compassion and respect.

The Markey Cancer Center also offers oncology outreach clinics in Winchester and Georgetown, and radiation outpatient treatment centers in Berea, Georgetown, Maysville, Morehead, and Mt. Sterling.

Regional partners in conducting selected research studies include Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, Highlands Regional Hospital in Prestonsburg, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, and Health Departments throughout central and eastern Kentucky.

The Kentucky Cancer Program is a statewide community-based network of 13 regional offices staffed by cancer control specialists.  The KCP assists cancer patients, cancer survivors, community planners, and healthcare providers to address cancer needs in their areas.  Offices administered by the Markey Cancer Center are located in Highland Heights, Lexington, Somerset, Maysville, Morehead, and Hazard.

The Kentucky Cancer Registry is a population-based registry that records all cancer cases in Kentucky.  The KCR staff work closely with state and community health care planners to identify geographic needs and opportunities to reduce cancer incidence and mortality.

The Ovarian Screening Program is a free service at the Markey Cancer Center for all women age 50 and over and younger women with a family history of ovarian cancer.  Additional outreach sites are located in Elizabethtown, Prestonsburg, Maysville, Somerset, and Paducah.

Other outreach activities include:

• quarterly prostate cancer screenings
• Cooper-Clayton Smoking Cessation classes twice a year
• periodic oral screenings
• regional public and professional education programs and conferences
• health fairs
