Patient care at the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute

BergerWhen a patient is referred to Kentucky Neuroscience Institute (KNI), diagnosis and treatment are made in a collaborative environment, decreasing the need for multiple visits and consultations. A whole-patient approach to care, with emphasis on quality of life factors such as ease of movement and communication, maximizes recovery potential. Treated as equal partners in care, referring physicians can expect early and ongoing contact with KNI specialists.

Advanced technologies

Young KNI offers patients the benefits of Gamma Knife radiosurgery. Gamma Knife is a revolutionary method of brain surgery that allows our specialists to operate on the brain without even breaking the skin. Gamma Knife is radiosurgery - a state-of-the-art, non-invasive procedure that uses highly focused gamma rays to safely treat tumors and abnormalities deep inside the brain without surgery.

Additionally, we are the region's only Level IV Epilepsy Center. Our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a dedicated 6-bed unit with the latest diagnostic monitoring equipment to accurately diagnose the causes of epileptic seizures allowing the physicians to create a more accurate treatment plan. The Kentucky Neuroscience Institute also offers the latest advancements in minimally invasive surgery, such as kyphoplasty and other spine procedures, that allows patients to recover much faster.
