Growth brings changes to employee transportation Sept. 28
With construction ramping up on the new UK Chandler Hospital, changes to employee transportation take effect Friday, Sept. 28, to ensure that patients and visitors continue to have efficient access to the main entrance of the current hospital.
Changes include:
Employee shuttle relocation
The employee shuttle location will be relocated from UK Chandler Hospital’s front loop to the front of the Peter P. Bosomworth Health Sciences Research Building (HSRB) on VA Drive to accommodate patient shuttle arrivals and departures from the new UK HealthCare parking structure on S. Limestone, which partially opens Nov. 19.
Employee pick-up and drop-off
Employees may only be dropped off or picked up at the former LexTran bus shelter on Rose Street in front of the Chandler mural, not the hospital’s front loop. UK Chandler Hospital’s policy HP 10-15 states that the hospital’s front loop is for patient use only. Security will strictly enforce this policy.
HSRB traffic and deliveries
The shuttle relocation will increase pedestrian traffic through the HSRB lobby and every effort is being made to minimize possible congestion around the building. Shuttles need clear access and there is no place on VA Drive to accommodate waiting vehicles attempting employee pick-up or drop-off. Other deliveries to the HSRB—such as food from nearby restaurants or campus catering—should be made only via the lobby entrance located on the north side of the building.
