Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism

UK Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism provides consultation services for pediatric inpatients and outpatients with medical problems related to classical endocrinology, diabetes mellitus, and other metabolic defects. The faculty and staff also provides diagnostic confirmation and therapy for infants from Eastern Kentucky identified by the state-sponsored newborn screening program for phenylketonuria, galactosemia, and hypothyroidism.

Outpatient clinics operate five days each week, and approximately 2,500 outpatient visits occur each year. Outpatient clinics specifically for diabetes mellitus are also held in two outlying sites in Eastern Kentucky.
