Heat

  • Dehydration
Be sure and stay hydrated, especially if you are in hot sunshine. If you are in the sun waiting, dismount and move into the shade.
Note: Be aware that even moving into the shade in some instances won't be enough. Make sure you sponge your horse and yourself regularly and drink plenty of water.
  • Heat
In hot weather more than 90 degrees, rest periodically so you don't fall due to heat. Respect the sun and heat.
Note: It's not necessarily the temperature alone you should be aware of, but humidity level and other factors. Heat stroke happens very easily and quickly. Take precautionary measures for you and your horse before you get to that point.
