Swartz Named Chief Nursing Officer for UK HealthCare

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 10, 2008) Colleen Swartz has been named enterprise chief nursing officer for UK HealthCare.
Swartz will be responsible for developing strategy and directing the patient care and nursing practices within UK HealthCare.
"Colleen will provide leadership in clinical service areas, elevate nursing practice standards, and implement evidence-based programs and protocols to enhance the work environment and improve patient outcomes," said Dr. Richard P. Lofgren, vice president for healthcare operations. "She will be a vital member of the team in the Office of Healthcare Operations. Colleen also will provide leadership and strategic planning for UK HealthCare to ensure patients receive the highest quality of clinical care."
Swartz will begin this new position at UK HealthCare after serving as the nursing operations administrator and Capacity Command Center director since May of 2005. She has also served as interim director of the Critical Care Division since January of this year. Before her current roles she was chief nursing officer of a regional hospital and has served the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital in nursing and administrative positions including the emergency department, trauma and air medical service.
