LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 13, 2008) - The African American Dementia Outreach Partnership, in conjunction with the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and UK HealthCare's Kentucky Clinic North, will offer free memory check-ups at Kentucky Clinic North from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Kentucky Clinic North is located at 217 Elm Tree Lane, Lexington. No appointments are necessary and walk-ins are welcome.

"Research has shown that African Americans could be predisposed to memory problems as they age," said Deborah Danner, senior investigator, Alzheimer's Disease Center Education and Information Core, UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. "Because memory check-ups are not a formal part of the typical physical examination, our memory check-ups should be helpful to the community. We hope that folks who think that they may be having problems will come to see us."

For more information, call the UK African American Dementia Outreach Partnership at 859-257-1412, ext. 230 or 271.
