About Mark D. Birdwhistell
Mark D. Birdwhistell currently serves as the Chief External Affairs Officer for UK HealthCare, which he often represents at the local, state and national levels.
Prior to this position, Birdwhistell served in senior leadership roles in the private and public sector, including secretary for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services and chief executive officer for CHA Health. He has more than 30 years of experience in health care, with specific expertise in Medicaid policy.

UK HealthCare encompasses the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital, UK Good Samaritan Hospital and Kentucky Children's Hospital; clinical activities of the UK colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Sciences and Public Health; and multidisciplinary centers such as the Markey Cancer Center, Gill Heart Institute and Kentucky Neuroscience Institute.
