Cancer types and teams

The complexity of cancer involves many different branches of medicine. Markey Cancer Center has developed a variety of specialized multidisciplinary teams to evaluate and treat the disease, which means that physicians and nurses from multiple specialties work together with each patient to develop the best treatment plan for their particular circumstances. 

This approach gives the patient and family a coordinated 'second opinion', yields a variety of options for a comprehensive treatment plan, and moves patients into active treatment more quickly.
